The round-shaped Mt. Amigasa is the southernmost mountain of the Yatsugatake Mountain ranges. You can see the spectacular panorama from the summit with nothing to block the view since it is covered by rocks.
Mt. Nishidake is located next to Mt. Amigasa on the northwest side. The stone monument enshrined on top of Mt. Nishidake allows you to imagine how people have worshipped this mountain. You can admire many alpine flowers blooming on Mt. Nishidake along with the stunning view from the summit.
One of Japan's tallest mountains
The Yatsugatake Mountains are a volcanic mountain range stretching 25 km from North to South and 15 km from West to East. Yatsugatake is one of the tallest mountain ranges in Japan composed of mountains almost reaching the height of 3,000 m. It is located on the border between Nagano Prefecture and Yamanashi Prefecture, which is just a few hours away from Tokyo and other major cities of Japan. Since Yatsugatake is easily accessible via train and expressway, it is a very popular destination for hikers in Japan. Among the geologically and biologically rich mountain ranges, the Southern Yatsugatake especially has a wide variety of alpine flowers and outstanding view of Mt. Fuji and Japan Alps. Mt. Aka is the most prominent mountain in this area. Fujimi town is located at the foot of the Southern Yatsugatake with many hikers visiting during summer.
One of the best trails from Fujimi is hiking Mt. Amigasa and Mt. Nishidake from Fujimi Kogen resort area. This route can be enjoyed as a day trip by all hikers with beautiful sceneries, alpines flowers, and well-maintained trail. There is also a mountain hut, so you can also spend a night on the mountain. The best season starts from early July, get ready to discover magnificent sceneries of Yatsugatake!
