Treasure-trove of flowers, Mt. Nyukasa
Take the gondola to hike the family-friendly Mt. NyukasaFamily-friendly mountain
Mt. Nyukasa is a very accessible mountain with gondola taking hikers close to the summit. You can cut the 730 m hike while enjoining a breathtaking view of Yatsugatake on the gondola.
From gondola's Sancho Station to Nyukasa Marsh and the flower garden, you can admire many charming flowers and insects with the sound of birds singing. The best season for the flowers is from May to September. It takes only 40 minutes from the trailhead to the summit with steep hills only at the beginning and the end. From the top of the mountain, you will find the awe-inspiring view of the Yatsugatake and Okuchichibu Mountains, Mt. Fuji, the Southern Alps, Central Alps, and Northern Alps. After breathing in the crisp alpine air and spectacular scenery on the summit, you can visit Oahara marsh or ranch on the way back.
Snow trekking in winter
The other recommended trail is the three hours long trekking with snowshoes from gondola's Sancho Station to the summit of Mt. Nyukasa. On a sunny day, you can view 22 mountains listed in One Hundred Mountains of Japan from the top of the mountain.
