Around JR Shinano-Sakai Station located at the southern foot of Yatsugatake, there are many important archeological sites of Jomon culture which flourished about 5,000 years ago.
This is a tour of Japan Heritage site "Jomon World Under the Star-Studded Skies of the Central Highlands." You will visit the historical park with beautiful water lilies and ancient Oga lotus and Idojiri Archeological Museum exhibiting impressive Jomon earthenware pottery and clay figurines.

Idojiri Archaeological Museum
Museum exhibiting valuable pottery, stone tools, recreated houses, and clothes. Excavated earthenware pottery and clay figurines show astoundingly sophisticated artistry and provide invaluable glimpses of how the Jomon people perceived the world here in Fujimi.
Idojiri Historical Park
Many people visit this park from May to September to take photos of water lilies, Japanese iris, and ancient Oga lotus.
Jomon Kingdom harvest festival
This is a popular festival held every Autumn where you can immerse yourself deeply in Jomon culture while enjoying the traditional food from the Jomon era and Fujimi’s local specialties.
