What to see around here
Hotel Happoen Shikanoyu Hot Spring
A relaxing hot spring with sauna tucked away in the forest. This hot spring with many health benefits is drawn directly from the back garden to fill the open-air baths, indoor baths, and bubble baths.
Fujimi Kogen Sozo-no-Mori Forest
This is an outdoor museum with 50 sculptures displayed in the forest of Fujimi Kogen Resort at the elevation of 1,420m. From 1988 to 1999, artists within and outside of Japan created 50 sculptures, each unique with different material and size.
Fudo Shimizu
During the Edo period (1603-1869), water sprung from this ground when local people worshiping Yatsugatake Mountains enshrined Buddhism deity "Fudo Myo-o." This has led them to name the spring "Fudo Shimizu." It is also known as the water of longevity and purity.
Sakazuki Nagashi
During the Heian period (794-1185), a game to recite a poetry while a sake cup floats on a stream running on a large rock was popular among aristocrats. This rock is called "Sakazuki Nagashi" (floating sake cup) since it looks like the large rock used in this game. A beautiful scenery shaped by the stream of Yatsugatake over many years.
